A Walk in the Amusement Park
The cyclone was opened on June 26,1927 and was open to the public. The cyclone was a thrill back then and over the years only got better. The architects of the cyclones goal was to create an exciting ride open to anyone. Vernon Keenan the designer of the architect met the goal perfectly and now the cyclone is not only a ride but a landmark for which it is one of the last remaining wooden roller coasters. The cyclone though is not the only attraction in the area. The cyclone is surrounded by other rides in Coney Island and Luna park are filled with fun filled rides for relaxing and than fast scary rides for the dare devils. These sites make the setting and neighbor hood of the structure very exciting. It also has a series of great restaurants that are just outstanding for example Nathan's famous that hosts the hot dog eating contest once a year has some of the greatest hot dogs around. The ride cost $175,000 to build and was made out of wood and steel but every penny, nickel and dime was well spent for the perfect ride to make a perfect day.
